Esther Tan

Profile:
Esther, is a Veteran The North Face athlete, representing both Greater China and Singapore in international races since 2006. She has won numerous adventure and endurance races. In addition to being an outstanding athlete, she was the first female member of the Singapore Armed Forces elite Naval Diving Unit, HER WORLD Young Woman Achiever 2006 and an active volunteer worker promoting sports to schools and the underprivileged.

Kenneth Koh

Profile:
Kenneth is a published writer-photographer and travel adventure junkie. Rock-climber, kayaker, diver, pilot and mountain biker; Kenneth goes to the farthest corners of the earth to explore and discover our many hidden treasures. He has been on numerous expeditions on foot and bike; crossing mountains and deserts across Nepal, Mongolia, Vietnam, Cambodia and the State of Utah but to name a few.

Kenneth is also one of the founding members of the Mountaineering Society of Singapore.

Leow Kah Shin

Profile:
Kah Shin is a new-comer to the world of ultra-marathons but his accomplishments are not to be trifled with. Kah Shin is the first Singaporean to conquer the 4 Deserts® challenge – a quartet of self-supported 250-kilometer runs across the Gobi, Atacama, Sahara and Antarctica. He has battled the driest, hottest, windiest and coldest places on Earth; covering more than 1,000 kms over a 13 month period. He continues to search for tougher challenges to push his body and mind to inconceivable limits. Kah Shin's dream is to inspire people to challenge themselves both physically and mentally in whatever they do.

Mohammed Shariff Abdullah

Profile:
Shariff Abdullah was born without a left leg. Inspired by South African Paralympic runner, Oscar Pistorius, Shariff decided to change his life and actively pursue an athletic career only this year. He has made remarkable progress; He started training with the Singapore Disability Sport Council in March 2009 as a thrower and is also actively pursuing running. He is the only prosthetic leg runner in Singapore. Shariff has many dreams, including climbing Everest and representing Singapore in the Paralympic Games. He is inspired by fellow athletes Dr willam Tan, Fandi Ahmad and Oscar Pistorius.

"Running frees the mind", exclaimed Shariff who finds running very therapeutic.

Tim Twietmeyer (Presented by HP)

Profile:
Tim is a renowned ultra-marthon runner from California who has completed over 200 marathon and ultra-marathon races. Tim's career as an endurance athlete has set the standard for excellence and longevity. He's the only person to complete the Western States 100-mile run more than 25 times in under 24 hours. He's a five-time champion of that race and in 2003 completed an unprecedented 15 consecutive top-five finishes. He's won the Eagle 100-miler in Canada, completed the Ultra Tour du Mont Blanc that travels through France, Italy, and Switzerland, and he includes the Vienna marathon on his international resume. He's completed more than 200 marathon and ultra-marathon races and in 2005 completed his ten-thousandth mile of competition at the marathon and above distances. His snowshoeing, running and fastpacking expeditions include the first winter crossing of the Western States trail, the first circumvention of the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail in under two days, and a sub-six-day fastpack of the John Muir Trail.

Not only is Tim an amazing world-class athlete, he has a professional career as an engineering manager at Hewlett-Packard Company in Roseville, California.

On any given weekend you may find him working on the local trails in support of his role as a ten-year member of the Board of Trustees and current president of the Western States Endurance Run Foundation.
